New Development Environment

Interpex Windows software has been developed over the past 10 plus years using Microsoft Visual Studio v 6 and the Compaq Visual Fortran compiler. This system does not run under Windows 7, although the developed software does. In order to continue our software development, we are moving to Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 and the Intel Visual Fortran Composer XE (v 12).

In principle, users should notice no difference except a possible increase in speed, depending upon the application. It should come as no surprise that the compiled code is optimized for Intel processors, so it will generally run faster on Intel processors than on others.

All new development, including updates to old products, will be compiled with this compiler. However, in case some issues may arise, we are leaving the last Compaq Visual Fortran version on our website for download. These are called legacy versions and the download files will retain the same name except they will be appended by "CVF".

In many cases, the executable file names will be different, so that both can be retained in the same directory. For example, IX1D v 2 and v 3 were both called IX1D.exe, although they installed in different directories. The new versions of IX1D will be names IX1Dv2.exe and IX1Dv3.exe. Thus, you will need to modify any shortcuts on your desktop or create new ones.

Download pages will be updated as each product is released with the new environment.
